Amit Shah resolves decade-old Kishau water dispute; six states to benefit

India's tenth inter-state water dispute has been resolved with the signing of the Kishau project agreement. Home Minister Amit Shah and Water Resources Minister oversaw chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Haryana signing the accord.
Shah called it a historic agreement and said all six states have consented to the project. He praised the chief ministers and Union Water Resources Minister CR Patel for their role in advancing the decade-long initiative, which was pending for over 50 years.
Shah noted that under PM Modi's leadership, this marks the tenth inter-state water dispute resolved. The project is expected to benefit all six Yamuna basin states, with Delhi set to gain the most advantage from the agreement.
