Union Home Minister Amit Shah Falls Ill With Food Poisoning During Karnataka Visit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah suffered from food poisoning during his Karnataka visit on Saturday, forcing him to skip two scheduled inaugurations. Shah was supposed to open a new academic building and hospital at KLE Institute in Hubballi, as well as attend an event in Belagavi district's Chikkodi taluk.
Senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi confirmed Shah's illness, saying the minister was "perfect" by evening after experiencing weakness from vomiting. Shah briefly visited the KLE Institute campus in the evening before heading to the airport to return to Delhi. The Belagavi event was cancelled entirely.
Joshi, who holds the Education portfolio, attended the Chikkodi event in Shah's place alongside Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar.
