AMU Student Dies By Suicide, Second Case In Four Weeks

An undergraduate student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his rented accommodation in the Civil Lines area near the campus on Friday. The 22-year-old second-year BA (Hons) student of Foreign Languages had returned from his hometown in Jammu and Kashmir four days prior. According to university officials, he left a note describing himself as a "loser" and stating he could no longer cope with ongoing issues.
This marks the second such incident on the AMU campus within four weeks. Earlier this month, a 19-year-old undergraduate student was found hanging in her hostel room at the university's I G Hall. The incident comes as IIT Delhi also faces major protests following the alleged suicide of a 31-year-old M.Sc. Physics student who died after jumping from a building on campus last week.
