Leicestershire fined over Rs 6 lakh for poor pitch; Ganguly biopic shoot blamed

English county cricket club Leicestershire has been fined £5,000 and deducted 27 points following a poor pitch assessment during their match against Glamorgan. The club attributed the substandard playing surface to extreme heat conditions and an unscheduled Bollywood filming shoot related to Sourav Ganguly's biopic at the venue.
The disciplinary panel, however, rejected the Ganguly biopic shoot as a valid mitigating factor in their decision. The point deduction puts Leicestershire in a precarious position in their fight to avoid relegation from the county circuit.
