AR Rahman Dismisses 'Anti-National' Criticism of Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga

Imtiaz Ali's latest film Main Vaapas Aaunga has drawn positive reviews but sparked online controversy, with some social media users labeling it "anti-national." The criticism centers on the film's portrayal of Pakistan without typical stereotypes seen in mainstream cinema.
AR Rahman responded to the backlash by sharing a satirical Instagram post that mocked the accusations. The post joked about viewers expecting the film to feature terrorists and spies, only to encounter a heartfelt drama with ordinary Pakistani characters. Rahman posted the screenshot with a simple laughing emoji, appearing to brush off the controversy.
Main Vaapas Aaunga marks the fifth collaboration between Rahman and director Imtiaz Ali, following films including Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha and Amar Singh Chamkila.
