Assam govt directs officials to prioritize ambulances over VIP convoys

The Assam government has directed district commissioners and superintendents of police to ensure ambulances are not halted for VIP convoys. The directive, issued by the Chief Minister's Office, follows a recent incident in Silchar that sparked controversy over protocol priorities.
The CMO's order also stated that the chief minister's own convoy may be paused if necessary to allow emergency vehicles to pass without delay. The move prioritizes medical emergencies over ceremonial VIP movement protocols.
