Azharuddin questions transfer of IPS officer Bushra Bano over greetings

A controversy has erupted in West Bengal over the transfer of IPS officer Dr. Bushra Bano. Former cricketer and ex-MP Mohammed Azharuddin has raised concerns, stating it is deeply troubling that an IPS officer was transferred after complaints over saying "Assalamualaikum" and "Inshallah" during an interaction with civil service aspirants.
Azharuddin questioned what message the nation is sending to minorities when greetings become grounds for targeting public servants. He stressed that India's strength lies in its diversity, not in controlling identity.
Bano, who was serving as Additional SP in Khardah, West Medinipur, has been transferred to the position of Deputy Commandant of the State Armed Police's fourth battalion. The transfer came days after a video of Bano drew criticism on social media.
