Baba Ramdev calls for dignity in political discourse amid Rahul Gandhi event row

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has commented on the political row surrounding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Students' Voice' event in Indore. He stated that regardless of whether one represents the ruling party, opposition, or any political ideology, democracy should not permit disrespect to any individual. Ramdev emphasized that while political differences are natural, public discourse must maintain decorum and dignity.
The controversy centres on mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the event, with the BJP alleging objectionable references to Modi's deceased mother. Congress dismissed the claims as political humour. Ramdev addressed this directly, saying that mothers, sisters, and daughters of all individuals—including the Prime Minister—deserve equal respect.
Ramdev broadened his remarks to oppose discrimination based on caste, class, language, skin colour, or education level. He called for equal dignity for all communities and individuals, stating that India's Constitution and democratic system do not justify insulting any person based on their political affiliation or social background.
