CM Adhikari Warns of Action Against GTA Corruption, Promises Accountability

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari held a virtual administrative meeting on Tuesday after his helicopter could not land at Kalimpong due to adverse weather conditions. Addressing the meeting, Adhikari reiterated warnings about alleged corruption in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) during the Trinamool Congress regime.
"We will not overlook any instance of corruption within the GTA. The inquiry committee has commenced its work and accountability of every penny will be taken," Adhikari said, adding that the guilty will face severe punishment. He cited irregularities ranging from teacher recruitment to drinking water projects.
An inquiry committee led by retired Justice Biswajit Basu, with IPS officer Kaliappan Jayaraman as executive member, is investigating alleged misconduct. Adhikari emphasised the administration's focus on recovering losses to the state treasury.
