Bengal CM apologises after government ad features 11-armed Durga

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu apologised following an error in a government advertisement that depicted Goddess Durga with 11 arms instead of the traditional 10. The mistake triggered a political backlash in the state.
The Trinamool Congress seized on the error, criticising the government for the cultural lapse. TMC leaders argued that a government claiming to represent Bengal appeared increasingly disconnected from the state's cultural values, traditions, and festivals that define Bengali identity.
The incident highlights the political sensitivity surrounding religious and cultural imagery in West Bengal's fractious politics.
