Bengaluru becomes new hub for Rohingyas evicted from Jammu

Rohingyas evicted from illegal settlements in Jammu are reportedly moving to Bengaluru, with a Muslim educator named Dr. Hashim Rifai facilitating their relocation. Rifai, a former Coordinator at the University of Calicut and principal of Al-Azhar Training College in Thodupuzha, posted on Facebook that five Rohingya families have already arrived in the city, with 50 more expected. He stated he is seeking land to build shelters for around 100 families.
The evictions follow an inspection of illegal Rohingya settlements in Jammu by a delegation from the Ministry of Home Affairs to assess demographic changes. Jammu authorities have intensified enforcement, directing police stations to monitor the movement of evicted families and warning locals against providing shelter. The authorities aim to prevent relocated immigrants from settling in other regions.
