Bihar to seek over ₹10,000 crore from Centre for flood compensation
Bihar is expected to present a demand exceeding ₹10,000 crore to the Union government to compensate for damages caused by recent flooding.
The first wave of floods struck in early September, impacting over 50 lakh people across more than 2,000 villages spread across 15 districts in the state. The flooding has caused widespread damage to crops, infrastructure and housing across affected regions.
The state government is preparing to formally request Central assistance under disaster relief mechanisms to help rebuild affected areas and support displaced populations.
