BJP President condemns intimidation of journalist by TVK cadres

BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday condemned the intimidation of a journalist by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) cadres at Dharapuram in Tiruppur district. The incident occurred after the journalist shot visuals of TVK party functionaries reportedly falling at the feet of Minister and TVK general secretary N. Anand.
In a social media post, Mr. Nagenthran said the journalist was threatened and his mobile phone was taken away after he recorded the visuals. The BJP leader alleged that videos were forcibly deleted from the device. Mr. Nagenthran called the incident an attack on the fourth pillar of democracy and described it as an attack on press freedom, saying it reflected growing intolerance towards the media.
Mr. Nagenthran also criticised the police, alleging the incident took place in their presence but that they failed to intervene.
