BJP hits back at Rahul Gandhi over Manusmriti remarks on women

BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey on Saturday launched a sharp counter-attack on Congress MP and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Manusmriti and women. Dubey questioned Gandhi's knowledge of Indian scriptures, saying his limited familiarity with Sanskrit texts stems from his English-language background.
Dubey shared a post on social media platform X citing Sanskrit verses from Manusmriti that celebrate the respect accorded to women: "Where women are respected and worshipped, the gods reside. Where they are not respected, all work and noble deeds bring no results."
The exchange reflects ongoing political tension between the Congress and BJP over interpretations of Hindu texts and their relevance to contemporary debates on women's rights and gender equality.
