‘BJP Is Trying To Kill Abhishek’: Mamata Banerjee Alleges Political Conspiracy, Announces Protest Campaign

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee intensified her attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday, accusing it of orchestrating a campaign to politically isolate and intimidate senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee following recent incidents of unrest involving party workers and leaders.
Addressing the media through a video message, Banerjee alleged that recent attacks targeting Abhishek Banerjee were part of a larger effort to weaken the Trinamool Congress and undermine its leadership. She claimed that individuals associated with the ruling party had been unfairly targeted while those allegedly responsible for creating disturbances had escaped action.
The chief minister described the developments as a serious challenge to democratic values and alleged that opposition leaders in the state were facing increasing political pressure. She further claimed that attempts were being made to tarnish the image of the Trinamool Congress ahead of crucial political battles.
Banerjee also dismissed allegations linking the party to corruption, asserting that the organization remained rooted in its grassroots support base. She maintained that the party had already distanced itself from individuals whose actions had damaged its reputation and was focused on rebuilding its strength across the state.
Taking aim at the BJP, the TMC supremo alleged that efforts were being made to influence elected representatives and destabilize the party from within. However, she expressed confidence that such moves would ultimately consolidate support for the Trinamool Congress rather than weaken it.
Reiterating the party’s agitation programme, Banerjee announced that the TMC would move ahead with its planned protest on June 2 regardless of administrative restrictions. She said party workers would continue their demonstrations and raise their voice against what she described as political victimisation.
The chief minister also accused her opponents of selectively highlighting certain incidents while ignoring others that deserved equal public attention. According to her, misleading narratives were being promoted to divert focus from key issues affecting the people of West Bengal.
