BJP fields slain aide's mother for Nandigram bypoll in West Bengal

The Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated Hansirani Rath as its candidate for the Nandigram assembly seat bypoll in West Bengal. Rath is the mother of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's late personal assistant.

The Nandigram seat became vacant after Adhikari, who won the constituency, chose to retain another seat. For the Rejinagar bypoll, the BJP fielded former district president Sarkar as its candidate.

Polling for both by-elections is scheduled for October 6.
