BJP rejects proposal to award Bharat Ratna to PM Modi; Nadda says no party discussion yet

Union Minister JP Nadda has rejected suggestions to award Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor. When asked if the party would propose the award following the completion of the nationwide "Sewa Sankalp Abhiyaan" campaign, Nadda stated that no discussion on the matter has taken place within the BJP. He said the party takes decisions on such honors at the appropriate time.
Nadda described PM Modi as "the world's most democratic leader," dismissing opposition claims that he functions like an authoritarian. The remarks came as the BJP announced a month-long nationwide service campaign marking 25 years of Modi's public service, which he began on October 7. The campaign will run from September 17 to October 17 across 17 states, culminating in a service journey from Vadnagar to Varanasi on Modi's birthday.
