BJP will not take TMC defectors, says Bengal party chief Samik Bhattacharya

Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has ruled out inducting rebel TMC MPs into the party, dismissing speculation about their entry. Responding to claims by NCPI MP Jagdish Basuniya that 17 NCPI lawmakers would join BJP before Durga Puja, Bhattacharya said no such discussion has taken place within the party.
Bhattacharya used a pointed metaphor, suggesting that if BJP adopts TMC defectors, public backlash directed at TMC leaders would turn toward his party. He stated the BJP does not want to "take the risk of eating eggs" — a Bengali colloquialism for facing public anger. While acknowledging lawmakers have the right to speak, he made clear the party has not decided to induct them.
