Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani admitted to hospital with chest infection

Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi for treatment of a chest infection and age-related health issues. The 98-year-old former deputy prime minister was brought to the hospital on Friday evening and placed in the pulmonary department under close medical supervision. Hospital authorities stated his condition is currently stable, and a team of doctors is monitoring his health.
Advani previously served as the BJP president three times—from 1986–1990, 1993–1998, and 2004–2005. He held prominent positions in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, including Union Home Minister from 1998 to 2004 and Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.
This is not his first recent hospitalization. In December 2024, Advani was admitted to Apollo Hospital's Intensive Care Unit for treatment and examination, where he was under the care of neurologist Dr. Vineet Suri. He was also awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 2024.
