BJP's war chest grew ₹905 crore during 2026 polls, Congress' shrank ₹66 crore

The BJP's financial position strengthened during the 2026 state election cycle, with its war chest growing by ₹905 crore, according to Election Commission disclosures. The Congress, by contrast, saw its funds decline by ₹66 crore during the same period.
Congress reported net receipts of ₹207.17 crore against expenditure of ₹248.55 crore across its consolidated election expenditure report for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry from March 15 to May 6. The disparity highlights the widening financial gap between the two major political parties during the election season.
