INDIA Bloc MPs Detained During Protest Against Electoral Roll Revision

The INDIA bloc and Election Commission faced heightened tensions on Tuesday as Opposition MPs protested at Delhi's Akashvani Bhavan against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The poll panel stated it had received no formal meeting request from any political party, despite continued demands from Opposition leaders for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation.
The Opposition alleges that eligible voters are being wrongfully excluded from electoral rolls during the SIR process. INDIA bloc parties have demanded the revision be scrapped and that names removed without due process be restored. Leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra participated in the protest, which continued despite the Election Commission's clarification.
DelhI Police detained several Opposition MPs during the demonstration. The INDIA bloc has vowed to continue its agitation until granted a meeting with the poll panel to address their electoral roll concerns.
