BJP wins Nandigram by-poll by over 1.22 lakh votes; all other candidates lose deposits

The BJP secured a commanding victory in the Nandigram by-poll, winning by a margin exceeding 1.22 lakh votes. The party's candidate, Hasirani Rath, emerged as the clear winner in the contest.

Hasirani Rath is the mother of Chandranath Rath, the slain personal assistant of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Her candidacy drew significant attention in the state political landscape.

All other candidates in the by-election, including those fielded by the Trinamool Congress, failed to retain their deposits, indicating the scale of BJP's dominance in the constituency.
