BMC Chief Inspects New Water Treatment Plant Project at Bhandup

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is constructing a new water treatment plant with a capacity of 2,000 million litres per day at its Bhandup Complex. Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide visited the project site on Wednesday to assess progress and directed officials to ensure timely completion.
The Bhandup Complex houses Asia's largest water treatment facility and currently operates two plants with combined capacity of 2,810 MLD, supplying water to millions of Mumbai residents. The new plant is being built to meet rising water demand driven by population growth and urban expansion in the city.
