Bomb blast near Congress leader's home in Manipur, no casualties
A bomb blast occurred near the residence of Manipur Congress legislator Keisham Meghachandra Singh in Yairipok area of Thoubal district on the night of September 3 around 8:15 PM. An unidentified person threw an explosive at the Congress leader's home. Police reached the spot and launched a search operation. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Meghachandra Singh, a former Manipur Congress president, was recently appointed as Congress Legislature Party leader after Okram Ibobi Singh—a three-time former Chief Minister—took over as state Congress president.
The incident comes a day after Meghachandra Singh raised questions in the assembly regarding communal violence in the state. Home Minister Konthaoujam Govindas Singh responded by calling for all sections of society to work toward restoring peace and maintaining humanitarian values in the region.
