Bombay HC Orders NTA to Declare Re-NEET Result of CBI Witness in Paper Leak Case

The Bombay High Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the Re-NEET-UG 2026 result of a medical aspirant who is a witness—not an accused—in the CBI's investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak. Justices Riyaz Chagla and Firdosh Pooniwalla issued the interim order on August 25, noting that withholding the result would prevent the petitioner from participating in the ongoing Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for MBBS and BDS courses in Maharashtra.
The CBI filed its charge sheet on July 20, naming the petitioner as a witness. The agency opposed declaring his result, claiming he was a "direct beneficiary of the leaked papers," but the bench observed that such allegations would need to be established through CBI proceedings. The court emphasised it was not commenting on the petitioner's role and that the interim relief would not interfere with the investigation.
The bench considered the urgency of the revised CAP-1 schedule, which commenced on August 19, directing NTA to declare the result by August 27 to allow participation in the admission process.
