BRICS dinner menu sparks political row between Congress and BJP

A political controversy has erupted following the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi over the vegetarian menu served at the gala dinner for foreign leaders. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on X that 80 percent of Indians are non-vegetarians and Indian meat dishes are delicious, a day after PM Modi's dinner event. Rajya Sabha member Pawan Kheda accused the BJP of imposing its dietary preferences on international dignitaries and questioned why the government was hiding India's culinary diversity.
BJP retaliated through Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, accusing Congress of politicizing the menu to distract from the BRICS summit's success. TMC MP Mahua Moitra also weighed in with a sarcastic post suggesting the new BRICS leaders should try kebabs from a local eatery instead.
