India demonstrated strong convening power at BRICS Summit 2026: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday praised the outcome of the BRICS India Summit 2026, saying India successfully brought together 32 delegations despite a deeply polarised global environment. The participating delegations comprised 11 member states, 10 partner countries, four regional organisations and seven international organisations, with most represented at the level of heads of state or government.
Jaishankar emphasised that consensus-building was particularly challenging given ongoing major global conflicts and political divisions. He highlighted the West Asia conflict as one of the most difficult issues discussed, noting that BRICS members reached agreement on a statement calling for peace, security and stability in the region, along with emphasis on smooth global trade flows, supply chains, energy security and civilian protection.
