Cabinet approves bill with up to 10 years jail, ₹10 crore fine for exam paper leaks

The Union Cabinet has approved a bill proposing stringent penalties for examination paper leaks, including imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines reaching ₹10 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the measure in a video address on Thursday night. The draft legislation will be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday for further legislative action.
The bill aims to strengthen enforcement against the irregular disclosure of confidential examination materials, addressing concerns over paper leak incidents that have affected competitive and institutional exams across the country.
