Calcutta HC Grants Interim Bail to Congress Candidate Milan Pradhan in Six Cases

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Milan Pradhan, the Congress candidate contesting the Nandigram assembly by-election, in all six cases registered against him in Nandigram and Khejuri. The bail remains valid until October 28, subject to certain conditions.
Pradhan's lawyer argued that one of the cases dated back 19 years and was linked to the Nandigram movement, while the State had opposed the bail plea. Congress leaders alleged the cases were politically motivated and aimed at preventing Pradhan from campaigning. They contended that other individuals, including BJP leaders, were also named in similar cases from the same movement but faced no action.
