Heavens will not fall if Vande Mataram sung in madrasas: Calcutta High Court
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday heard arguments in a public interest litigation challenging a government notification that makes the complete rendition of the national song Vande Mataram mandatory in madrasas.
During the hearing, the court observed that singing the national song in these institutions would not be problematic. The court's remarks came as it considered the petition questioning the necessity and scope of the notification requiring madrasas to conduct the full rendition of Vande Mataram.
The PIL seeks to challenge the government's directive, raising concerns about its implementation and potential implications for religious institutions.
