CAQM removes exemptions for older goods vehicles under strict pollution stages

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has withdrawn exemptions previously granted to older goods vehicles when the strictest Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stages are triggered. This move tightens vehicular emission controls during periods of severe air pollution in the National Capital Region.
The decision aligns with efforts to reduce particulate matter and harmful emissions from heavy-duty commercial traffic. Previously, certain older goods vehicles had been exempt from movement restrictions during high-pollution episodes.
Separately, CAQM has expanded its web-portal system for registration and real-time monitoring of dust-control measures across eligible construction sites, strengthening compliance tracking in the region.
