Census 2027: Caste data to be collected in second phase

The second phase of Census 2027, known as Population Enumeration (PE), will take place in February 2027. During this phase, caste identities will be recorded as part of the enumeration process.

This marks a significant development in India's decennial census exercise. The collection of caste data represents a key component of the Census 2027 methodology, reverting to a practice last conducted during the 1931 Census.
