Central Railway Intensifies Station Inspections Across 75 Facilities

Central Railway has launched a stricter inspection regime across 75 stations spanning its five divisions—Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Pune and Solapur. Divisional officers will now conduct monthly inspections while supervisors will inspect weekly, aimed at enhancing basic passenger facilities including cleanliness, toilets, drinking water, lighting and accessibility.
The Principal Chief Commercial Manager issued the directive to make Multi-Disciplinary Service Improvement Group inspections more effective. Station-level teams must document corrective actions against each identified deficiency and track progress until resolution, preventing recurring complaints without follow-up.
Pune leads with 21 identified stations, followed by Mumbai (17), Bhusawal (15), Nagpur (13) and Solapur (9). Major stations include CSMT, Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune and Nagpur. Inspections will assess drinking water, toilets, lighting, seating, catering and facilities for differently-abled passengers including ramps, lifts and accessible counters.
