Centre defends IPS officer deputations to CAPFs in Supreme Court

The Centre defended its practice of deputing IPS officers to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) before the Supreme Court. Home Secretary Govind Mohan stated that the appointments of 46 officers were made within an established framework and based on formal requisitions from the heads of these forces.
The government emphasized that deputation follows established protocols rather than constituting a prohibition or arbitrary action. The matter relates to concerns raised regarding the deployment of elite police personnel to paramilitary forces.
