Centre fast-tracks response to NEET paper leak protest after 36 hours of pressure

A protest against NEET paper leaks that began 30 days ago has evolved into a broader movement against the education system, spreading from Delhi's Jantar Mantar to cities across the country. The central government initially remained silent but was forced to act after sustained pressure, including a demonstration by Congress MPs outside PM Modi's residence.
Within 36 hours, the government announced multiple measures. PM Modi posted on X that fast-track courts would be established to ensure strict punishment for those accused of paper leaks. The Delhi High Court subsequently set up a special court for the matter. A high-level meeting was held among Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister JP Nadda, and PMO State Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, lasting approximately 4 hours.
The government then invited representatives of the protesting group for talks at Constitution Club. Under pressure, it also removed Education Secretary Vineet Joshi from his post. PM Modi issued a second statement on the issue, including a video message.
