Centre to Launch Faceless CGST Scheme Within 3-4 Months

The Centre is preparing to roll out a faceless scheme under the Central Goods and Services Tax within three to four months. The initiative aims to substantially reduce direct interactions between taxpayers and tax officers.

Cases will be assigned and processed using technology, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, to improve efficiency. The government is adapting a model similar to the faceless system already in use by the Income Tax Department.

The new framework is expected to streamline GST administration and reduce compliance friction for businesses.
