Centre flags English classification issue in three-language scheme, pledges swift relief for Class 6

The Centre has raised concerns in the Supreme Court regarding the classification of English as a native language under the three-language scheme. The government has assured the court of prompt action to address the issue.
Under current CBSE guidelines, students in Classes 7 to 9 have been exempted from the scheme's full implementation. However, the present Class 6 batch was set to face complete implementation, including a mandatory third language Board exam at Class 10 level by 2031.
