Chanakya textile atelier marks 40 years with three exhibitions across Mumbai

Chanakya, a textile and embroidery atelier based in Byculla, is marking its 40th anniversary with three exhibitions across Mumbai. The atelier has worked with over 50 global luxury brands including Dior, Prada, and Fendi.
The exhibitions—En Route at Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Garden of Gestures at Chanakya Ateliers, and Belong at Experimenter Colaba—showcase the atelier's work in fashion, education, and textile research. Displays feature handwoven pieces combining basketry, embroidery, beading, and various weaving techniques.
Founded in 1986 by Vinod Shah, Chanakya is now led by Karishma Swali. The milestone also marks 10 years of the Chanakya Foundation and School of Craft, which trains women artisans in traditional textile techniques.
