CIC flags dummy admissions, recommends surprise checks at CBSE schools

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has raised concerns over dummy admissions at Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)-affiliated schools. The commission flagged instances where students appear to be enrolled on paper but do not actually attend classes or participate in examinations.
The CIC has recommended that education authorities conduct surprise inspections at CBSE schools to verify actual student enrollment and attendance records. The move aims to tackle the practice of inflating student rolls, which can distort academic statistics and affect school performance metrics.
These recommendations follow information requests that exposed discrepancies between reported enrollment figures and actual student participation at several institutions. The CIC's advisory seeks to ensure transparency in school administration and curb fraudulent enrollment practices across the CBSE network.
