Child drug abuse is a child protection issue, not just health: CJI Surya Kant

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has underscored that child substance abuse must be treated as a child protection matter alongside health concerns. He stressed that affected children require dignity, confidentiality, and access to rehabilitation services.
The CJI cautioned that stigma surrounding drug abuse can deter young people from seeking necessary help and support. His remarks highlight the need for a compassionate, rehabilitative approach to addressing substance abuse among minors rather than a purely punitive framework.
