Chief Justice seeks Election Commission Chief's resignation over electoral roll irregularities

The Chief Justice of Pakistan has called for the resignation of Election Commission Chief Gyanesh Kumar, citing alleged irregularities in electoral rolls. The demand comes in the wake of concerns raised about the conduct of the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The protest, scheduled for October 10, centres on claims that the electoral roll revision process has been marred by administrative lapses and data inconsistencies. The CJP has pointed to these alleged irregularities as grounds for the senior election official's removal from office.
The ECI's SIR exercise is intended to ensure accuracy and completeness of voter registrations across India. However, critics have raised questions about its implementation and effectiveness in maintaining electoral integrity.
