CJP spokesperson Saurav Das attacks 'self-declared liberals' as constitution's custodians

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das has responded to criticism of the organization's recent Mumbai protest against the SIR (Students' Integrity Review) process. Das stated on X that a certain section, including members from multiple political parties, believes protecting India and the constitution is their exclusive responsibility. He characterized them as self-declared liberals and self-appointed custodians of the constitution.
Das's statement came after Ashutosh Ranka tweeted defending CJP founder Abhijit Deepak against criticism from what he termed a liberal ecosystem active primarily on social media. The CJP has been staging ongoing protests demanding a halt to the SIR process, restoration of the January 2025 voter list, and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
