Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Sets Up 53 Immersion Points for PoP Idols
The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has planned 53 immersion points across its limits to manage idol immersion during the festival season. The arrangement comprises 33 lakes, 12 baby ponds, six temporary ponds, one portable immersion point and one other pond.
The move aims to prevent damage to natural water bodies and control water pollution by directing PoP (plaster-of-Paris) idol immersion to designated facilities rather than natural lakes.
