Computer-based testing may not secure NEET-UG against emerging threats
A move to computer-based testing for NEET-UG may not guarantee improved security despite reducing logistical risks, according to analysts examining the examination framework.
While CBT can eliminate vulnerabilities tied to printing and distribution of physical question papers, it introduces fresh challenges such as hacking and digital system breaches. Given the scale of NEET-UG and institutional constraints at the National Testing Agency, experts caution that transitioning to CBT could expose the exam to new security gaps.
The concerns reflect ongoing scrutiny of NEET-UG administration following past irregularities. Proponents of CBT cite reduced paper-handling risks, but cybersecurity experts emphasize that robust digital infrastructure and institutional capacity are essential to prevent compromise of exam integrity across millions of candidates.
