Congress attacks Modi govt over MGNREGA, alleges employment scheme neglect

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh has accused the Modi government of dismantling MGNREGA, calling it the "lifeline of the poor." Ramesh shared a media report on X highlighting jobcard holders in Ballia district becoming disillusioned with the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), citing departmental statistics.

The Congress claims the government conspired to strip citizens of employment guarantees. The allegation comes as MGNREGA, a rural job guarantee scheme, remains a contentious political issue between the ruling BJP and opposition.
