Congress attacks BJP over exclusion of 2 crore voters in Maharashtra SIR

The Congress has criticized the BJP over the exclusion of over 2 crore voters from Maharashtra's Supplementary Identification Register (SIR). The party drew a parallel with West Bengal, where 91% of voter names struck off the SIR were subsequently reinstated following appeals.
Congress alleged that similar mass exclusions in Maharashtra may disenfranchise eligible voters without sufficient review mechanisms. The party questioned the process and demanded clarification on the grounds for such large-scale removals from the electoral rolls.
