Congress credits Dalit anger over Kharge purification row with Rajasthan poll gains

The Congress party has claimed that Dalit resentment triggered by a purification controversy involving party president Mallikarjun Kharge contributed to its better-than-expected performance in the Rajasthan assembly elections.
The party pointed to the backlash against remarks perceived as targeting Kharge over ritual purification as having mobilized Dalit voters in the state, strengthening Congress prospects during the polling.
