Congress demands Modi, Shah resign over electoral roll deletions ahead of INDIA bloc meet

The Congress Working Committee has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing them of "match-fixing" polls through systematic deletion of voter names. The party's top decision-making body also called for suspension of the Systematic Voters' Rolls Purification process (SIR) and restoration of 13.3 crore names it claims were removed from electoral rolls.
The demands come ahead of a scheduled meeting of the INDIA opposition bloc, where electoral roll issues are expected to feature prominently in discussions. Congress contends the deletions disproportionately affect opposition-supporting constituencies.
