Congress welcomes LAC troop reduction but demands transparency from govt

The Congress party responded to a Defence Ministry report on Chinese PLA troop reduction at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on Monday, stating that differences between India and China will persist. The party believes these differences can only be resolved through sustained dialogue, talks, and efforts to build mutual trust. Congress also demanded government transparency on the issue.
Congress MP Karthik Chidambaram said India-China relations are complex, involving trade, border disputes, and security concerns. He stated these issues can be addressed only through continuous dialogue. Chidambaram said if the government claims Chinese troop deployment has reduced at the LAC, it should specify the extent of reduction and clarify whether Indian territory has been encroached or new Chinese military structures built.
Congress leader Pawan Khera raised questions about patrol arrangements in eastern Ladakh, noting that prior to May 2020, Indian forces regularly accessed certain patrol points in the region.
