Pargat Singh appointed new Punjab Congress chief, replacing Warring

Pargat Singh has been named the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, succeeding Amrinder Singh Raja Warring who stepped down amid factional disputes within the party.

With assembly elections scheduled for 2027, the Congress party aims to resolve internal divisions and consolidate its position in Punjab. Singh's background as an MLA and former minister brings legislative experience to the role. His involvement in sports is seen as a way to appeal to younger voters and broaden the party's electoral base.
